Twenty years ago, we supported an obstetrics project to monitor childbirth in Vientiane, then in the provincial capitals to fight against maternal and infant mortality during childbirth. Since the links with our Laotian gynecologist partners have been maintained and now the management of women's cancers is also becoming a necessity.
For almost 4 years from 1995, we lived and worked in Laos for the NGO child and development. We have implemented a training project in provincial and district hospitals designed from the Mahosot hospital in Vientiane. This involved cascading training leading up to the community level to training health personnel by Lao trainers. It was for us the unique opportunity to discover in depth the wonderful country that is Laos.
